I'm fairly certain that Butterfly is a boy. Sorry [IMG]

My RI Reds are 18 weeks and just started to crow this week. My reds crowed later and do it less often than the buff or the barred rock.

Your Butterfly could be a boy, but he doesn't look like my roos with their long, greenish-black tail feathers. Here's one of my boys:

I am thinking some or all are NHRs. Sorry but that one looks like a boy. Is there any sign of spurs yet?

Quote:No, no spurs at all. If she's a he, it seems as though he went through puberty overnight. I swear that comb wasn't nearly that big a week ago.

Quote:You're right. Butterfly doesn't have a tail like that or back feather like that either. By the way, nice chickens!

Quote:Thanks! The reds are some handsome boys, if still a little awkward. Here they are, bellying up to the water bucket:

Your RIRs look exactly like mine. Mine is a female and has a large comb.
