I've seen you all help out a lot of other people, so it's my turn to ask for suggestions and comments. [IMG]

Many of you know that we bought our place back in January (If not, the post about it, with pictures, is here) . It's 42 acres, but most of the acreage is hidden behind the house, garage, and a couple rows of big conifer trees. We have all kinds of critters and our dream is to open a small store selling our beef, pork, eggs, pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn and maybe some other craft items or produce. So, I don't want a name with any specific livestock animal or produce item in it. We also don't want to name it anything too specific to the area (like with the nearest town name - Amsterdam or the nearby creek - Yellow Creek) because we may someday buy a larger farm and move and we'd like a name that could travel with us reasonably (IF we move, we wouldn't be moving terribly far, so the topography will remain similar).

My hubby wanted to call it Kruprzak Farm (our last name is Kruprzak), but I vetoed that idea because it is a name that is hard to spell and pronounce - I prefer something simpler and easier for people to remember. Besides, our name will be on everything anyway, so I don't feel that it has to be in the farm name.

    Some of our ideas:

    Dream Haven Farm
    Hidden Hills Farm
    Hidden Acres Farm
    Hidden Hollow Farm
    Oak Hill Farm
    Rustic Ridge Farm

So, if you have other suggestions or really like one of the ones I already listed, please let me know! [IMG]

I really like Hidden Acres the best, then Hidden Hallow. Dream Haven I like the least.

Either Chevy Ridge Farm, or Hidden Chevy Farm. I like the first one, and the second one would start conversations..... [IMG] You are the ChevyGirl, after all.

I like Hidden Hollow of your picks.

I think a couple of those are fairly popular. You may want to google - if there's another already in Ohio as a registered business it may be an issue. Also try them witha dot com to see about web site availability.

    Hidden Oaks?

    Like the others too.

Morgaine, I'm just curious - why don't you like Dream Haven? It is my personal favorite because having a farm where we can raise our livestock, produce, and eventually a family has always been our dream. It is also my safe-haven away from the rest of the world. That's where the name came from, but if it really is that crummy of a name, I'll let it go! Thanks so much for your input!

Cherig... lol! I don't think we'll use Chevy in the name, but I appreciate the thought! I don't know that we would even be able to use it legally, since it is a trademarked name.

I guess I didn't really think about that... I googled and found a Hidden Hollow Farm, and a Hidden Hills Alpaca Farm... don't know if they're registered, though. I guess I have to do a little research before making a final decision. Thanks. [IMG]

When we bought DH's family home 4 years ago, my (now) late FIL used to tease us about the "ranch". We have just under 7 acres (nearly unheard of this 'close' to town around here), so we hardly qualify as a 'ranch'. But, it was cute. At the time, both the younger kids were playing Little League, both doing band, the girl in Scouts, DH working incredible hours, and and and and and.........

I, thereby dubbed our little 'ranch' "The Runnin' K". Because our last name begins with "K" and we were constantly running off to somewhere or something.

I love your "Dream Haven", but I tend to want to end it with "Acres" over "Farm".

I think the name CHEVY is copywritten - I like Rustic Ridge myself.

To me, it sounds like an animal refuage place. I understand your reason and I do like the name in of it's self, but when I hear the name, I think of a place where race horses or something would go to retire.
