My turtle....

My turtle won't eat it's food I need advice! I am not new to turtles but I am new to red eared sliders. If it helps any he's wild caught and I am feeding him ZooMed's natural aquatic turtle food from petsmart. You know the floating stuff. Also I keep him in the large spanish fountain in my yard along with about 5 goldfish. His name is Herper and he's about the size if a grapefruit.

I don't know a whole lot about turtles, but what do they eat in the wild? I'd try maybe some cut up greens and some pieces of earthworms. See if he will eat that.

Ok. He's so stressed. Poor little thing we rescued him from a highway.

I know our mud turtle likes snails a lot, and mosquito fish - Gambusia, also called pot guts.

I rescued my turtle from a main street when he was about the size of a quarter 6 years ago. He wouldn't eat pellets right away, but loved worms and minnows. He also loved shrimp, snails, and little crickets. Good luck with your new little pet!!!

In that case I'm happy! But I'm not sure if he escaped or got eaten... Oh well.
