I am getting 6 silkie bantams hens next week. I was wondering how long shipping usually takes?

Same day in most cases, can't be to long without food or water and you don't want them getting cold.

Greetings from Kansas and [IMG]! Pleased you joined us! Probably 3 days to Texas. What I do when I order chicks through the mail is go to the postal hub - the larger post office that forwards the mail to my local P.O. I have them call me the morning the chicks arrive and I drive to go get them - saves the chicks one day of travel. Good luck to you!

I just received my batch of chicks from My Pet Chicken last week. They sent me an email early Monday afternoon that the chicks had hatched and they were already shipped. I received a call from my local post office about 9am the next morning saying they had arrived! I live in Phoenix, AZ- but I'm not quite sure where they shipped them from (I already tossed the box), so I can't be sure how far they travelled. Hope that helps!

Thank you, and to you as well! I also ordered 2 little silkies and a barred rock from MPC, they each seem to be healthy and strong. My barred rock is the only one who has attempted to escape the brooder so far ;) so keep an eye on those little guys!

I did have a few pasty butts when they first arrived, seems like its common with any hatchery, but after the initial cleaning we only really had one recurrance since. I've been giving them the apple cider vinegar water as suggested here, so perhaps that did help them out already.
