Hello! So on Jan 1st, 2022, a beautiful girl flew into our lives. Well, slammed into a window into our lives. We thought she was really messed up because she is a La Fleche and we thought the horned comb was a torn up comb (after learning what a comb even was). It was not. We took her to a vet after a few weeks.

The vet found no diseases, no parasites, nothin. She was healthy and clean despite her traumatic adventure finding her way to us.

But she has a lot of foot/leg problems. I couldn't find anutbing and the vet had no idea (she said it looked like she'd been burned).

It is *not* scaley leg mites or bumblefoot or anything like that. She has a broken toe which adds to the mystery. I have attached pics and was hoping someone could help me figure this out.

Her scales are pretty brittle and at first we thought she was really old. But she just laid her first eggs with us late winter.

Thanks for any input!

Welcome to BYC! :frow

She has spurs indicating that was NOT her first egg ever and that she is indeed a bit older. Possibly just recovering from molt or her ordeal. Younger ladies don't sport spurs but it is common in elder ones. That spur is even broken so was previously longer, I'd be surprised if she was under 3-4 years old.

The older surface scales often fall off to reveal fresh ones underneath. I would give a good epsom soaking treatment and scrub anyways followed by a vaseline application similar to SLM, but without that being the purpose to SEE if it helps improve the condition. Still in my 40's and age has definitely effected my skin condition, so I agree with your first assessment as being a valid possibility!

Broken toes happen. It doesn't look fresh.

But she has a lot of foot/leg problems. I couldn't find anutbing and the vet had no idea (she said it looked like she'd been burned).
Is she limping or have problems walking or standing? Is there any heat or swelling?

Here's a closer up pic of her feet.

@eggsiher only problems are when her broken toe gets in the way. The claw has gotten really long so we intend to start trimming it.

And the vet had said that her breed can develop spurs young (la fleche) when out under intense stress.

We have done coconut oil and sometimes given her foot baths but her scales stay like that. We were wondering if it was severe trauma or if it is a genetic condition. She has an extra toe or two as well.
