I found a chick on the road (actually my dog did) while walking and I couldn't see a nest so i picked it up and it is now in a box with a towel and heating pad on low. It started opening its mouth so I dont know if it's panting or hungry. I have no idea what kind of bird it is so I dont know what to feed it either. It is black/grey with very long legs. Any help would be greatly appreiciated![IMG]

Pet Smart sells baby bird formula, about how long are the legs and it is hungry

About two inches. I live on brackish water with a bird sancutary near by so there are tons and tons of birds here.

I am no expert but try feeding tiny pieces of earth worm until you get baby bird formula or find a better solution

baby bird formula is the best thing you could feed it, you did the right thing by putting it on a heating pad on low wrapped in a towel and if you don't get the formula make sure to put a tiny bit of water in with whatever you feed it

I gave it a couple drops of water through a straw.
