    They all look like hens to me though I'm not sure which one is the chicken in question. Cute!

    The chicken in question is the one with the black tail feathers.

    I let them out today to scratch and free range a bit while I cleaned out the coop, put a nice thick layer of shavings down, put a box in with a bunch of fresh hay. The very obvious girls were stellar! they snacked, wondered around a little, but stayed close-such good girls. MC (mystery chicken) decided to bug out, and ran for the back fence and eventually jumped the fence and hasn't been seen nor heard from since. As I was chasing him around, I swear he sounded like what I would think a roo would sound like. He was trying to cock-a-doodle-doo. Truth be told, I'm glad he's gone. I have a feeling either a dog or a coon or a hawk will get him.

    They're all hens for sure. The "crow" you thought you heard was probably her shrieking in panic; a few of my more high-strung hens do that when they think I'm chasing them.
