6 months old, showing no sign of rooster behavior but the feathers have me very confused as to sex. What do you all think?

Might be an EE Maran cross. The gal I got it from had both.

I usually never guess on these, but I'm feeling reckless tonight. I say roo, based on hackle feathers near the tail, and just on his overall stance compared to the other chicken in the pic.

The other one is definitely a Maran roo though he managed to somehow damage his tail and it flops sideways.

Definite EE cockerel.

Notice how the neck sways forward like hair? That's hackle feathering you're seeing.

Also, that coloring is common Easter Egger cockerel coloring.

Boy. He has hackle and saddle feathers and his color is boy color for ees. If you have other roos, he may not be acting "rooish" because of them, or maybe he's just one of those guys who don't yet notice the ladies.

That is MOST definitely a boy.

Thanks everyone! I figured it was a he, but had some hope for a hen. Maybe I will keep him and cross with one of my brown layers to see if I can get an olive egger.
