    Did that get your attention?:D
I have a black Australorp that is apparently my rooster's favorite girl. While putting a hen saddle on her to protect her back, I discovered that her belly is completely bare as well. What do you think is going on? Was she hot and plucked her own feathers out? Is somebody else doing it? She has not been broody, so I don't think it has to do with sitting on eggs?

Few things cross my mind. She may have attempted being broody.:idunno
She may be plucking feathers due to heat.:idunno
May be plucking and eating own feathers due to low protein in diet.:idunno
There may be Mites or some other type of dvlz causing feather loss.:idunno
Check her over well and observe her, as there may be a clue .
    WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

Thank you for the ideas! I will check her over carefully in the light tomorrow. It has been very hot... everybody else looks good, so I'm thinking her diet is okay. And come to think of it, she did kick one of my bantam hens off of her eggs today.
