I may just keep this little guy since my main flock rooster, my Barred Rock, Hawkeye, is well, shall, we say, rather laid-back and casual about mating all of his women. In fact, only about 3 of 17 hens/pullets have fertile eggs. I need my Barred Rock girls fertilized so this son of Hawkeye may get to stay.
My dilemma is that I've used up all my good names for my boys: I sold Maverick, a young BR cockerel, because I was beginning to think Hawkeye was doing better, but now he's slacking again in the mating dept. So, I have Hawkeye, Scout, Suede, Maverick... what shall I name this cute little son of Hawkeye? I like manly names, so I'd love some suggestions from my BYC family, if you dont mind. Thanks! Here's the little one, just 10 days old.

How about these hawk-related names:

Gawain- (Sir Gawain) Arthurian legend name meaning "white hawk"
Astor- germanic for "goshawk"
Chayton - Native American Sioux meaning "falcon"
Gavin- Scottish "white hawk"
Haythum- Arabic means "young hawk"
Heru- Egyptian falcon-headed god of the sky
Shae, Shay, Shaye - "hawklike"

(I like Sir Gawain, personally. All regal and such.....)
