Does anyone think it's a bad idea to use tree branches for roosts? [IMG]

Do a search on the BYC site as I remember reading need to take off bark?

I use them aplenty in my run. The naked trees are approximately 4" - 5" across. The girls love them. I use sideways 2x4"s in the coop. They like those too.

You don't *have* to take off the bark, but it does make them waaaaayyyy easier to clean [IMG]

I have some 2x4 roosts and some tree-branch ones, and the chickens seem to like them both the same. And of course the tree branches are free [IMG] (Of course if you look around you can find free 2x4s too, but they can be used for more other things than tree branches can [IMG])

    Good luck, have fun,

    Pat
