Does anyone think it's a bad idea to use tree branches for roosts?
Do a search on the BYC site as I remember reading need to take off bark?
I use them aplenty in my run. The naked trees are approximately 4" - 5" across. The girls love them. I use sideways 2x4"s in the coop. They like those too.
I found the thread. Thanks!
You don't *have* to take off the bark, but it does make them waaaaayyyy easier to clean
I have some 2x4 roosts and some tree-branch ones, and the chickens seem to like them both the same. And of course the tree branches are free (Of course if you look around you can find free 2x4s too, but they can be used for more other things than tree branches can )
Good luck, have fun,
