[Hooligan Farm]

Does anyone use their feed? My feed cost has gone up and I'm trying to get something cheaper. Southern States has gone up

Nutrena Nature Wise is all I feed. Gamebird Breeder/Finisher (26% protein) was $12.50/50# bag the summer of 2009. I'm paying $14.25/50# bag now. It's progressively gone up pretty steady in the past few months. The reason? Several.... For one, it's got corn in it. Anything with corn as an ingredient is steadily rising. Another reason, fuel surcharges. The massive price increase in fuel for the haulers is being handed down to us. And it's only gonna get worse.........not just for bird feed, but everything that gets hauled by truckers......which is virtually everthing. Still, don't cut corners with bird feed. Eat a can of viennas and crackers one day a week if you have to balance your budget, but don't deprive your birds of a decent protien feed if you can help it.

I hear you. Southern States is costing $20 for 50# now. I was just trying to see what my options were.

Mine went up to $18 and i switched to the co-op brand for $12 plus its the right feed.
