Nearly 70 Percent of the Nation covered in snow

Climate change is going to happen whether we're here or not. I think the govs are going in the wrong direction, instead of trying to correct something that's going to happen anyway why not direct resources to adapt to it. Mother nature has her own way of balancing things out.

I went to public school in the 70's steeped in alarmist theories about the population crisis, landfill crisis, oil crisis, top soil crisis, acid rain crisis, coming ice age crisis, etc...

alarmist theories maybe, but many of these "crisis" were addressed and I doubt that anyone could argue that we have come along way in doing right by mother earth. Landfill crisis - recycling, oil crisis - better and cleaner energy alternatives solar, wind etc. its a start. Top soil crisis and acid rain crisis have also been addressed with pollution controls etc. At least let history show that we cared.

And I agree that climate change happens. Whether we're here or not. But I also believe that mankind has made an impact on this planet, and I believe that our native people here in the USA understood also that we should try to refrain from making as much impact as we can. No matter how small or how big an impact you believe we make - you must know that we DO make an impact.

Many were made up!
Acid rain was a complete fraud. http://www.fortfreedom.org/n15.htm

The
great top soil crisis was supposed to put us in another dust bowl by the 80's. Didn't happen.
We were supposed to be buried under 10 feet of garbage by the mid 80's. Didn't happen.
We were all supposed to be living in super crowded Hong Kong Style cities by 2000. Didn't happen.

Computer models, egghead theories and political agendas haven't been right on any of these. Yet legislation was passed, money changed hands, and the tax payers got screwed. It happens over and over. It is a cycle of fraud and deception.

Native Americans had a summer home and a winter home. They moved because the garbage, wild life depletion and harvesting the plant life made the area uninhabitable. They would go to the other camp to follow game and let their garbage decompose. I hardly consider driving entire herds of buffalo off a cliff and only harvesting the hump fat "low impact", yet that was the practice.

believe me wifezilla, I don't trust the gov any more than the next patriot. And I certainly and leery of anyone trying to get me to jump on the bandwagon for a buck. I don't know if you're saying that the crisis was over-hyped or non existant on ANY level. I would like to think that some progress or some benefits come out of our awareness of acid rain, top soil erosion, etc whether they be CRISIS category or not.

With that said, I don't know how to put a dollar price on it, or how to know whether or not we got something positive from our investment. Or what you'd rather see that money go towards. I hear what you're saying and I'd like to agree to a point. I don't doubt that we get swindled out of our money one way or another. I am suspicious of alot of things that are whats the word...ummm have become "commercial" or in style..whatever. darn. cant think of the word I am looking for...lol

I am probably speaking more on a personal level. As in, don't pollute, recycle and don't waste energy (cause it just wastes your money) lol
