I live in a small town in north alabama and I'm wanting to get a few laying hens for eggs but my city has an ordnance against chickens in the city limits. But bees are ok because the mayor has bees go figure.any ideas on the steps to change this?

I sure hope you can get your laws changed. Mountain Peeps has left you with a good link to follow.

Good luck and keep us posted!! Everyone should have the right to keep a flock of chickens. :)

Well if you move to Chicago, you CAN have chickens - go figure. I think they even allow roosters.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm sorry about your town's ordinance against chickens. I'll bet they don't have any ordinance against dogs that bark all hour of the night. Mountain Peeps and Kelsie2290 have given you some good links. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your town's ordinances against chickens overturned.
