it was hatch day yesterday and nothing happened, i went to bed and this morning the cat must have opened the top and it flipped onto the floor. the eggs were all cold and i saw one was poked threw and i helped it open up because i thought if it wasn't already dead it was shrink wrapped. the chick was already dead but there was still blood going threw the outside membrane. so it probably wasn't dead for long.

are they all dead, and did I waste my time putting the top back on? I have duck eggs in there too.

All you can do is give it a shot. Give them a chance and see what happens.

Hopefully the inside temp didnt get effected and the one that was dead is the one your cat probley played with...[IMG]

i know it can take a while for the eggs to cool off under the shell fully, how long does it take for them to die from being too cold?

Bad cat! I'd keep it going. It takes awhile for the internal temp to drop and you don't know how long it was like that. Hang in there!

The dead one could be unrelated to the fiasco. They are resilient little boogers. Have you tried candling a couple?
