i have read a lot of forums on how to make a hen go broody and have had no luck so far, therefore I need a broody hen or a non broody silkie or buff orpington. I am willing to buy or trade. my location is Byron GA.

Contrary to what you may have read, you can't make a hen go broody. She either gets the hormones flowing to raise a family or not.
Some things make it more likely, like a nice comfortable nest with soft bedding in a quiet space with several fake eggs in it.
Breeds more prone to be setters put you way ahead of the game. We may be past the season when even Silkies, Cochins, Brahmas and games may not go broody.
You could look locally on Craigslist for those breeds.
Cubalayas, Modern Games, Sablepoots, Belgian D'Uccles and Dorkings are other options besides the previously mentioned 3 breeds.

As already mentioned, there are a bunch of factors that go into a broody hen. If you're looking to raise a brood, you may want to look into incubators. They are much more cooperative than chickens when it comes to hatching on your schedule.
