What is a goo chicken to raise for excellent egg laying and breeding to give away or sell. I read if u breed sex links it will not have s sex link. So I want something pure. Brown egg layer!

They are not as common but getting more popular in the USA, Cream Legbar are a sex link chicken that breeds true. It's a blue egg layer. Also the Rhodebar is another autosexing bird and think it lays a brown egg. Probably a few more legbar/bar like this in the USA, not the best of layers at around 180 eggs per year.

Plymouth Rocks are a popular breed, if your looking to get a heritage breed and american classic these are a good choice. Heritage birds lay 200 eggs per year. They come in some dazzling color varieties like Partridge, Silver Penciled, Barred and Columbian. Dick Horstman http://horstmanspoultry.com/largefowlhome.html sells hatching eggs and ships day old chicks of the Partridge and Silver Penciled variety. There are several top lines of the ringlet Barred Rocks and Yardfullorocks here on BYC has the Columbian. To find Yardfullorocks or a Barred breeder go to: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/811228/the-plymouth-rock-breeders-thread/1070#post_12721601

Obviously I'm a Plymouth Rock fan. Some are big time Orpington fans, which also come in a large variety of colors. Others like American breeds that need work or more breeders as they are rare. Many reasons to getting breeds. For eggs and meat and all round great temper the Rocks or Orpingtons are a good choice. Keeping purebred birds, not hatchery, makes sale of chicks or older birds easier too.
