Need Help Identifying Growth on Face

Does anyone know what is causing this growth on my girl? It's above her eye, starting to grow on her other eye and there are growths on the wattles. How do I treat this? Is it contagious, will it spread to my other hens? Thank you for your help.

That's fowl pox. At the stage it is, I would assume it has already spread to your other chickens. There is no treatment for it, you just have to let it run its course. Applying ointment to the pox and putting apple cider vinegar or electrolytes in the water can help.

Fowlpox is a viral slow-spreading contagious disease that often affects birds including poultry. It is spread either through mosquitos, direct contact with other birds, or indirect contact such as shovels or equipment that was brought into the poultry area recently from infected birds.

There is no treatment, only basic supportive care, and vaccines. If she is the only one affected, you may consider administering the fowlpox vaccine via the wing stick method which may help prevent the spread amongst your flock and reduce clinical symptoms. I would apply povidone-Iodine to the lesions a few times a day, and if the pox appears around the eye, apply an ophthalmic ointment to help dry the scabs out and prevent surrounding tissue damage.

I would also start the birds on vitamins, as some vitamins such as Zinc can help birds immune response to the disease. Disinfecting their waterers/feeders, improving ventilation, keeping the coop clean, and reducing mosquitoes in your area would be good too.
