I have a cornish x I went out to give them more water and food and saw one was trying to poop and there was about a 2 inch thing comming out that was bleeding and looks like guts. can this happen. what should i do. I was going to butcher them on my day off thursday. Any idea what i should do please help.

Hi there. I have never had this happen, but I saw you didn't have any responses, so did a little research, and will TRY to help...but again, not a lot of experience here. It sounds like prolapse..when the lower part of the oviduct protrudes. I found a lot of info on this in layers, not so much on broilers, but it can be attributed to chickens being fat (which is what we want our cornish to be...well, large anyway!

). I've seen people suggest pushing it gently back in, and coating the area with honey, other websites recommended a hemorrhoidal cream like Preparation H and it should go back to normal.

Hopefully someone else will have a better answer hun.

Good luck!
