Can anyone help me identify males between females from Sussex and Brahma chicks? I think they are about 3 or 4 days old. I need hens! Any advice would be wonderful! [IMG]

Probably cant tell at that young. Some breeds can be feather sexed. I do not know if Sussex is one of the breeds. Do some research on feather sexing.

I tried it. I think it worked for the most part, I could tell a difference. Thanks.

Oh good! keep track of who you think is female and see how accurate you were when they are grown....then next time you will be even better at it.

Well I believe they are all hens, so I guess I'll see what happens. Hoping I am right don't need any roos.

Some advise I got a while back regarding brahmas, which worked on the one chick I had, was that the boys get feathers in slower, particularly the tail feathers. If you see the start of tail feathers they are more likely to be girls.

Did you order all hens or a straight run? If you ordered straight run it would very unlikely they are all female.

    Unless you are me....
I ordered 52 straight run birds so I could have eggs and the boys for meat, we ended up with all females and sold 26 pullets with an ad I put on craigslist. I should have sold them for more but I didn't know what to charge.

I think your bird is a cockerel at 12 weeks
