I have converted my goat shed into a coop for my 40 chicks who are about a week old... I'm taking this one day at a time, and am kind of new to this.. I have had chickens before but because my husband built a run about 500 square feet it doesn't have a roof or wire burried into the ground... So, yes my girls got out and foxes and raccoons got in
. I have never had this many chicks before, and hope someone can give me some ideas on an ECONOMICAL way to convert this shed into their new home... I know I need to cover up the holes but what about flooring? Does it look fairly easy to add a roost and laying boxes?? It's about 8x8.. I have 3 foot boards from our old deck that I'm covering up areas with. Is that big enough for my girls to sleep in at night? I was thinking about letting them be free range and locking them up at night in the shed.. Should I get rid of some chickens?
