It's so weird. The crest is off, the "streamers" go off the sides and really don't look like streamers. The tail feathers look like a roo and it's got a small comb and wattles. My gut says roo. It never crows, but it might just not be a dominant roo. It's about 6 months old.

Here is my other roo (in the back) with the questionable one closer to the front (right)

If this is a roo, will the crest issue be something that is considered a DQ and he should not be used as a breeder?

Thanks. If anyone can chime in on the DQ factor, I would really appreciate it. I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep him. He is such a sweet thing and cuddled right up to me when I picked him up. If he shouldn't be bred due to faulty genes, I probably will not keep him since I do have another splash, though.

That's him in my avatar, btw. For the longest time, I was positive he was a beautiful girl. *sigh*

Are you referring to how his streamers are on his head asher? If so, I don't think that would be a dq, but I've never shown silkies so maybe someone else could advise on that.

  7. Hes still young, only 6 months, keep him another 2 or 3 months and see what he looks like then. How are his toes and eye color?

You can't tell gender. I was just asking how his toes are spaced, how they are feathered, and his eye color, which is supposed to be real dark, almost black.
