Need Prayers for My DS's Goldfish

Actually, I was going to suggest this, too. I read about it once as a surprising home remedy for sick fish. It's worth a try since there's so little you can do for them.

I hope RIR will be okay.

In my tank now i have some java fern and some bronze wendtii. I did have anacharis and duckweed but they finished those off already. Besides being good for their diet, plants help oxygenate the water and out compete algae for food.

Always use fresh or frozen/thawed peas. Canned peas have too much salt and preservatives.

awww! i really hope he gets better.

! and don't worry about the name, because when i was little i once named about 5 MALE betta fish in a row "rainbow".

Chicken Chaperone,
Hope your fish is OK. One of my goldfish outside started listing to one side, and didn't seem able to get to the surface of the pond last year. I figured it would be gone soon. A couple weeks ago I noticed it is still alive swimming on it's side at the bottom, all these months later. Good luck

This sounds like a swim bladder problem which isn't always fatal but does cause them to swim on their side. Feeding food that floats seems to bring this on in gold fish that have the rounder bodies like the fancy ones...can't think of the names of them right now. Anyway...don't feed for two days and see if it doesn't help....don't worry this won't harm your fish....if she starts swimming better then you know it is a swim bladder problem made worse by gulping in air when she feeds on top of the water. If she gets better then feed sinking pellets but be SURE to not over feed. Good luck and I hope she recovers.

I hope his fish gets better - sometimes they do - I remember when my DS lost his first fish he cried hard - he won't let me get him any new ones cause he says they just die on him - so I'm guessing it still bothers him ( he's 13 so he won't say that but as Mom I know )

Great links! This is what I was trying to explain but it has been years since I had gold fish. This should really help.
