Nest box question

Does each chicken alway use the same next box each time they lay, or do they change it up?
I have 5 pullets that are 18 weeks old, and 4 nest boxes. I know 1 of them started laying on Saturday and I have found an egg in the same next box twice since then. Today I found an egg in a different nest box, so I was wondering if another pullet started to lay, or if it's possibly the same one who just wanted to try a different box. Thanks.

I have four nest boxes....ALL chickens use only 1.
It's possible the same chicken laid in the other nest box and it is possible a new one started.
You gotta sit out there and watch to know for sure.

They will change it up. My birds lay where ever I put the fake eggs. However, I have a new girl who is laying in one of the less favored boxes. She has no competition for that box, so can avoid the drama by laying there!

All of mine always fought over the same box. Occasionally an egg would be laid in the less desirable boxes. Nest boxes are a place of hen drama!!

I have 4 pullets and 4 boxes. My Queenie usually picks her favorite spot first, she does tend to switch from 2 different boxes, then the other 2 wait their turn. Lots of squawking between them to get into the same box. It's so funny.
