I am building a chicken tractor for a couple of my banties to give to my mom. The nest box is about 2'x3'. Do I need to seperate it into a couple different nesting areas, or should I just put in the straw and let them make there own nests.
Some people have good luck with communal nestboxes, so I don't know about "needs to be". Anyhow if this is just "a couple of" birds you'd only need one nestbox *anyhow*
(and that is a rather huge nestbox -- you do mean *nestbox*, not the entire 'house' part of the tractor? Which would need a partitioned-off little nestbox *inside* it, in addition to a roost in there?) Why not leave it as is, and then if you need to add a partition later you can?
