Nest box - should it be dark or light?

I'm reading conflicting things on next boxes. Some people say they should be dark so they are comfortable, and others say the more light the better. So naturally I am confused! I can create them either way, we are very accommodating to our girls! My girls will be 18 weeks this weekend so I want to be ready! Can anyone clarify? Thanks!

Hm, I have always heard dark is better for nest boxes, and my girls love to lay in the darkest of our boxes. Maybe it depends on the chicken? Or the time of year (light in the next boxes in winter?)
