nest boxes

How high should we elevate the nesting boxes? Is there anything unique I should know about them? (i.e. lighting, bedding etc.)

Make sure they're lower than the lowest roost, or chickens will roost in the nest boxes and get them all pooey. Resulting in pooey eggs.

other than that, a lot of people have them about 2' high, but I do not think it hugely matters. If your chickens are well trained and not inclined to lay floor eggs, nest boxes on the floor are fine too (mine are).
