We have had chickens for four years. Never had a rooster, but our new chicks bought in march has a rooster. He is an ee, there are 3 ee, 2 buffs, 1 black Wyandotte and 1 red sexlink. We wise them for eggs.
Here is the stupid question, if the rooster gets to the hens, can we still eat the eggs.
I don't want to raise babies. Do we need to get the roo a new home?
Thanks for any info on this. :)

I have in my main flock 10 hens and Archey the rooster, he causes no problems, he breaks up fight between the hens, keeps them together when they free range in the yard and makes sure they're all in the coop at night. I'd say he earns his feed. The only negative is that my hens really need chicken saddles, they've all lost some back feathers from Archey doing what roosters do.
