New Australian Hatching Mystery Egg at Home

Hello from Maine!

Still no change at all on the pip or the egg! The pip is still mostly closed as it was before, but definitely cracked. It hasn't squeaked to me for a while. It's coming up to about 8 hours from when I first think it externally pipped and no changes yet; I tapped it once to see if I would respond, but aside from that I haven't touched it or candled it or anything since. At what point am I allowed to start panicking? Hahaha.

Sorry I don't have more to report but thank you all so much for checking by and reading the thread. It's amazing to hear where everybody is from! So many world-wide chick and duck and bird lovers! <3

What a clever parrot LadyKota! My parrot is not very good at 'lights out', he has a spot he sits in to sleep and cuddle a blanket at nighttime which is his bedtime spot, but he will not go to it if we are awake or out of the house. He sits on his perch or near the door of his cage still hopeful to get out of his box even if we are not home until after midnight! (and often we do get him out haha)

WOW imagine if it was a Platypus or an Echidna! I don't think the Platypus is likely at all considering it was found in the dry, but we actually do have quite a few echidna's around! I don't know what they're eggs look like though, I hadn't even thought of that. If it's a T-Rex we could have work cut out for us feeding it every day, that's for sure, but I wouldn't mind knowing the Doctor had visited!

Trying to stave of anxiety and just sit patiently on my hands, I thought I'd post a picture of what I expect it to be if/when it hatches! Oz posted the adult Australian Wood Duck before, but this is how the babies look, kind of like mallard ducklings but without the yellow! If it makes it through we'll be able to see if I'm correct or not, although I'll just be happy if it makes it through

My only other solid guess at the moment is an Australian Brush Turkey!

It so nice to meet you all, thank you all for your well wishes and support and for sharing your experience! Okay, back to pacing anxiously I go! Gonna be a long Sunday, hahaha.
