I am new at the chicken world and am having problems with my chicks. I have been watching my temp and the chickens behavior and I think that I am doing something wrong. I have cornish cross and other various chicks and am having trouble with the cornish cross. I have kept the temp at 85 to 90 and they seem to be super hot (acting funny) lowered the temp and they seem to act better. In the meantime they I seem to lose one a day (cornish cross only). I am very inexperienced and may be thinking to much and not doing the correct things by lowering the temp. I have been keeping the temp at 80 and they are only 1 week old so is this to cold? They are now two weeks and are doing better but I am disappointed in my losses, is this normal?

Sounds pretty normal... if you do a search for cornish you can read all the issues with them. A friend of mine ordered some Colored Rangers, she said they were much easier to raise, none of the same issues...

So sorry for your losses, hope they all stay healthy for you from here on out.
