new baby diamond dove!

well, almost new, 8 days old today! when it hatched it was about the size of a large lima bean, and look at him/her today! It's perching already! when I took the pic, it upset Mom & she took off, but here's baby!

Thanks. I'd had a pair, and one died, leaving one sad diamond dove in with the society finches. I bought another ddove @PetsMart, and lo and behold, an egg appears! I let them hatch it, and now they are a family of 3. I hope they all get along well when baby gets older. Ignore the dirty perch; they're all due for a scrubbing in that cage.

ETA the little sucker's growing FAST! It's 8 days old today, and is about the size of a kumquat or a persimmon, but when it's fluffed & napping, it looks like a pingpong ball.

I watched the parent feeding it; baby has a GOOD feeding response! Grabs that beak and hangs on for all it's worth!
