    Hello Everyone,

On Saturday MAR21st, I picked up my first ever flock of chickens! They are about 5-6 months old. I got one Buff orp, two RIRs, and a silver laced wyandotte! I'm very excited, but also very new, I have done alot of research but am still learning. Below are some pics of the coop and run, hoping to free range them a few hours a day, but they are still getting acclimated to their new home! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

PS, we are in southeast PA, still cold but almost spring!

    Thanks,

Hello, Joe, welcome to BYC. It's slow coming, but I think that spring is almost here on the East coast.

Hello Joe, and welcome to BYC! [IMG]I'm glad you joined our community.

Congratulations on your new chickens! You've picked out some nice breeds. The Wyandotte is my favorite breed of chicken, because of its gentle nature and very good egg production. My production Rhode Island Red has been an excellent layer and has had a decent temperament, too.

Thanks for the response! So far they all seem hesitant, but curious with me, one of the RIRs seems to be the alpha hen, but not aggressive with me. Since I have only had them a few days, I am still gaining their trust with an ample offering of treats!

Very nice pics! Yes chickens are naturally cautious around people. If you are wanting them to be more tame, try hand feeding, talking and just spending time with them.
