New banties in Somerville/Cambridge/Boston, MA

Thanks everyone!

Update on me:
I've hatched my first batch of eggs in an incubator, I have eggs under my broody hens, a few of my flock has been to the school next door for some show and tell with the kids and my bantam cochin roo is a GREAT little chicken ambassador! He crows when the kids are quiet (REALLY useful) and falls asleep as the kids file by to gently pet him and feel his comb! They all love him.

YAY!

My Roommate owns a third floor condo in Somerville, and he's expressed interest in chickens, but he's hesitant because of space constraints. He rents a garden plot across the street but I don't think that space is an option. We have a portion of driveway up against a wooden fence that isn't used for anything important, a narrow L shaped yard that wraps under all the first floor apartments windows, and a new triple-decker porch. Anyone have suggestions for making do with spaces like this?

My mom has a farm in Maine and I'd love to pull my resources for him if it's something he can actually do at this location.
