    Madison county,Texas. 13 acres...I know kinda small, but better than Houston! Joined here so I can learn from the pros!..or more so, so I can get a good start with out much "wrong direction" from hear say.
    We(wife and I) will be building a coop/run area, so we'll be searching the posts to get some ideas on sizes, ventilation, heat, feeding, and what kind of birds and how many...laying hens will be first on the list. So..looking forward to learning thru you all!

    Nice to meet you Bruce, you came to the right place. Click on the coops section at top of page and go to it. You may also want to join your state thread to find out what breeds can handle the climate best, and how they coop their birds. In areas with high heat - some folks have coops with a couple walls of just wire and a couple solid walls .

    Do you already know what breeds are you getting? Leghorns are super friendly (well, mine are . . . [​IMG]) And they lots of big white eggs!
