My 3 month old chickens, who free range most of the day, have taken to roosting in a small tree outside their coop when the sun goes down. For the last few nights I've had to coax and carry them down to put them away from nightime predators. Why are they doing this all of a sudden??

They do have roosts inside. Maybe now that they are larger they need more roosting space? The roost in there now is about 22 inches long.

They've found a place they like better than home. That's not good. They need to be reminded where they live. Lock them in their coop for a few days. The tree roosting thing just gets worse and worse if left unchecked. Good luck.
