Concord, Tn. the litte town no one knows about .
Hello my name is Ken I live in middle Tn. on a small farm with my wife and two of my children .we have a few horses & a bunch of chickens that's why I'm here .we've had chickens most of my life they were always free range. It was so easy then. They were what ever lived eggs were white or brown now there all colors of the rainbow & then some . at the age 61 I'm finding out I don't know a lot about chickens. BYC and its members have helped us a lot this past year you see all the chickens we now have came here in the past year. an opossum went through a chain link fence and killed our last 2 hens last winter on the roust . when I found out what hatching eggs were going for I got in the chicken business .I've learned a lot on BYC and from it's flock of members keep up the good posts THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH from Ken & his flock.

Oh I am so sorry for your losses.

It is never easy to lose them especially to predators.

We kept poultry when I was growing up however I too forgot much about raising them too and had to come here to relearn all kinds of things. LOL This IS the place to be for all the fun and learning!

So pull up a roost bar and make yourself at home. If you do have any questions, feel free to ask around the forums or stop by our learning center as well.

Welcome to our flock!

Hi Ken, welcome to BYC!

Good luck with your new flock and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Have fun!

Nice to meet you Ken, so sorry for your losses. Have you been able to safe guard your fencing? Backing with 1/2" hardware cloth securely affixed to framing, will keep out most predators. Costs more, lasts long and works!! Electrified wire works too.

Thank you one and all. I'm a very fast leaner when I got a new flock last march before they were old enough to go out I installed 1/2 inch mesh 24 inch's high around the pen just to be safe. We lived in the country for many years now the city is almost in our back door. Dogs & coyotes are so bad here my birds can only go out when I can watch them. I took care of the opossum the next night. I'm hatching Black Copper French Marans now from bird's I hatched last year and loving it.I have many questions which I will ask later.
