The house we moved to last April was sorely lacking in the kitchen department.
With the help of a local craftsman, I designed a center island to make the kitchen workable. I have deep drawers for baking utensils, a spice drawer, pull out shelves for my appliances, slots for cookie sheets shelves for my Tupperware Modular Mates and a breakfast bar.
The island will have a 6' x 3' maple slab, so the top now is just a temp one until the top gets here.

What a great kitchen you have now!

You were fortunate to have all that square footage so you could do something like this comfortably. These days, they seem to build kitchens for people who buy all their meals in the TV dinner section of the freezer.

Fabulous island, Terrie! I love ours. It's part of why we bought this little house.

Terrie, I have Island Envy. Beautiful job, nice kitchen, just as neat as I pitchured it.

I clicked think Terrie was talking about some Island, the kind that sits in the ocean. [IMG]
