Hello, BYC!
I found y'all by googling how to care for my 4 new little chickies. Love the site!
Thanks to a thread here, when I went to clean their pen I also checked their little behinds. Guess what I found? A hard poop stuck to one's underbutt. Oh, Dread!
Sorry I don't know who to credit...it was before I'd registered & I'd read so many threads I haven't found it again yet.
But because I'd read that thread, I knew the possible problem & how to clean it off.
I used organic coconut oil.
Turns out, the turdlet wasn't lodged within, but was merely stuck to the outer fuzz.
I've learned that my little pen is too small for the chicks, which I'll remedy Monday. They're still babies & stick together/sleep a lot, so I think we're ok. I'll also get better bedding and a MHP.
Thanks so much for what I've already learned, and I look forward to meeting all of you here.
