New chick

Hi ladies,
I'm whittney, I'm New to this site, an looking into starting my own laying flock. The hubbie an I live in southern MO. I'm looking at a couple breeds ive narrowed it down to. But just iffy about Wayandotte , some get Brown eggs from them an some get white. I'm really looking for the brown eggs that's y I asked any help would be great thanks

Hello! I love my Wyandottes...but they do seem to lay light tan eggs. No matter, the eggs taste great and the hens are very mellow - as opposed to other members of my unruly mob.

! Great to have you aboard. I was always of the belief Wyandottes gave brown eggs only??? I think the shading varies, however, but always brown. Below is a pretty nifty chart comparing a lot of breeds and giving pertinent info about each. Anyway, enjoy your chickens and best wishes!!
