I just finished building a nice Coop with a big run and got 6 Rhode Island red Chicken.

Chickens are about a year old and was told they are laying eggs, but it been 3 days that i have them and nothing.

i give them Organic food and they also eat some grass from the outside, keep the coop worm with wood chips and even put some fake eggs inside the laying boxes.

i read that i need to let them to adjust to the new home, for how long??

please help
thank you

They do need time to adjust. There is no set amount of time. Sometimes a week, can be up to a month. Any change can throw them off laying for a few weeks. Also, make sure they get plenty of light.

thank you for the info, i am in CA and we do have about 12 hr's of sun now daily and i see they are out of the coop all day, is that good or i need to put a light on a timer inside the coop?
Thank you
Mike
