Hi all- I am new to this chicken business. I have 4 week old chicks that I got from a local feed store. They were supposed to be pullets but I'm wondering if this one may be a roo- I have 2 of these barred rocks but this one has a more red comb, developing some wattles and has thicker legs- The first 3 pictures are showing - the last 2 are of my other barred rock

four weeks is really too young to tell. Better when they are fully feathered out about 8 weeks of age. Generally the females will have a black wash over their legs, like your photos show. The will also have dark black with narrow white bands.. Males are lighter grayish with wider white bands - their feet are usually yellow.

I'm leaning toward the first one being a cockerel, but they're too young to be sure.
