New Chicken Mama/ BYC Member!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Gracense, May 17, 2016.

  1. Hello, my name is Grace and I live in Manitoba with my human family of 7; we own a hunting and fishing lodge. For animal family I have two dogs, a rabbit[IMG], and 50 5-day-old chicken babies[IMG][IMG]! I have been reading this forum for months now and a majority of these threads have really helped me prepare for the chickens arrival, and I realized "HEY! I haven't even made a profile on here!" The only thing I didn't learn on BYC is that I would practically become obsessed with my chickies and watch over them as if I am their actual mother![IMG] I have a hard time leaving them alone; becoming anxious about their well-being, or if they miss me, or if something is just not right enough for them. We have 25 ISA Browns for laying and 25 Cornish Cross roosters for meat. Although they weren't purchased for being "pets", I treat them as such. [IMG]I know I won't have them for as long as I'd like but I am determined to provide them with the best life possible, however long that may be. [IMG]

Hi Grace and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. 50 chicks is certainly an ambitious start, but you seem to have done a lot of research and are well prepared for your chicken adventure, which is great.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre
https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center, and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Nice to meet you Grace - folks do tend to become addicted to chickens - nothing wrong with that. You'll fit in here, very well.
