I have 6 8 week old chickens. They have been in their coop for a week now. Today I brought home 4 3-4 week old babies. I set them up in a seperate cage right outside of the older ones. The older ones of course were very curious, but mainly spent the day going about their own business. Tonight I put the babies on their roost. Instead of the older ones bedding down on their own roost, they "piled up" on the floor of the coop next to the babies cage. The biggest change, other than the babies, I did take the brooder light away from the big ones to put on the babies. The big ones are truly big, fully feathered and as it's 60 degrees tonight I figured they'd be warm enough. Do you think them sleeping "with" the babies means they'll accept them eventually into the flock and this is a good sign? Or do they just miss their light? Thanks!
