Got a small order from MPC today. 2 cuckoo maran, 2 welsummer , 1 standard blue cochin. Supposed to be all females. We shall see in time. They are all super cute and very spunky. All seem to be in very good health. For a hatchery chick the cochin look really nice. Super leg and foot feathering. I am fairly sure this order was filled by Meyer, since the box indicates it was picked up in OH and went from Detroit airport to mine. The chicks are very nice quality. Here are some pics (I know they are bad, just took them with a cell phone - I will break out the camera later):

I'm so happy for you that you have gotten such beautiful new babies. I myself ordered from My Pet Chicken and have been VERY pleased. All were sexed correctly & have wonderful personalities and temperments. Please take a look at my signature below -- I got all of my chicks from MPC except for the OEG's, they came from my neighbor.

I love my blue cochin, her feathered feet are so cute - my daughter named her Marble due to the pretty variation in her blue coloring. My Cuckoo Marans are just beautiful as well. Sometimes at night, one of the marans will start walking around and clucking to the other chickens as if to tell them that it's time to go into the coop and go to bed. Within less than five minutes they all march in - so funny to watch.

Our Buff Orp male is simply gorgeous and HUGE. We're anxiously awaiting our first egg from our gals and are getting more and more impatient daily, oh well, it'll happen soon.

I agree with you as well, I think MPC gets their chicks from Meyer from what was on our shipping box too. Good luck with your new feathered babies!

I think it is so they dont drown in their water bowl. I have read several times to put marbles into the water dish so they dont.

TaLani - This is my second order from MPC. They are top notch in my book. Our other birds from them are 2 white Leghorns, 3 EE girlies, 1 EE roo, 1 BR, 1 Australorp, 1 Black Star. They are all super healthy and great looking. The one boy was the only wrongly sexed one, but they did send an extra chick, so no biggie.

lnm03 - You are correct. Marbles help prevent drowning. The chicks drink in the spaces between them. I usually only use them for a week or 2 depending on how the chicks are doing/growing. Marbles = "Cheep" life insurance.
