New chicks - 1st day home! (Also looking for BR sex opinions)

    I picked up 7 chicks today from a local feed store. Out of these, five were sold as pullets, two were straight run. I'm hoping the two SR chicks I picked out are also pullets... [​IMG]

    Here are the two SR chicks:

    Barred Rock - I thought this was a pullet at the store...but now I'm not so sure. Opinions???

    Can't tell. When mine were about a month old I could tell the difference. Here is a pic of my RIR rooster when he was young.

    So darling! I wish I'd ordered more of a selection, only getting BRs and Gold Stars. Your chicks are perfectly cute!

    I think pullet. From what I have eread the pullet chicks have a headspot with a regulat outline while the roo chicks have an irregular headspot. I think this is far froma certain science but at least it can give you some comfort.
