My four new chicks are getting about old enough to lay in a few weeks!! One actually did the "dance" when I went to pick her up today!

Here they are on the 2nd level of the new chicken pen. They are very brave!

Here you can see them eating wheat grass from the suet feeder. With one of the Barred Rocks trying to get some too.

And here they are taking a communal dust bath.

We've had some nice warm weather so far the past few days. It is to get cold tomorrow and maybe even some rain!

Gotta love the group bathing...mine love that as well. What breed chicken are your brown multi colored. Left in the first pic. I have one just like it and was told it is an Ameraucana. She lays green eggs.

Quote:Yep that is what they are... Ameraucanas. I do hope they lay a nice shade of eggs. I fear my one Barred Rock will never lay again since her bout of being egg bound. Does anyone know if a chicken ever lays again after that happens?

I think they do. Only 2 of my 5 hens are laying right now because of the cold. I have lights and a small heat bulb in their area but they are not easily fooled... especially with the freezing wind chill here.

I was wondering that too. I know the "song" but my chickens don't "dance". [IMG]
