There is wire going over the inside of the window and then framed in, the blue insulation will be removed and an a set of egg doors put in...maybe even the chickens will get in soon!

I love your new coop [IMG]
Do you have your chickens in a brooder now?
Are you going to fence just around it....or all along the garage?
They are lucky you care so much.

Thank you! The coop is 4' x 6' by 4' high inside...the fence will go underneath and up to the garage, the total pen space is about 6 1/2' x 12 1/2'. I have 5 chickens, 11 weeks old tomorrow. They are presently living in my basement and I will miss them greeting me every time I run down to get something! DH says he will put in the nest box window tonight, snow, wind, freezing temperatures and all!

What kind of chickens? You cant just say chickens as if every chicken is the same. Are they big.....little....yellow.......black.......????? Need a very handsome blue splash silkie roo to take care of them?????
Just kidding......but if you do.....i got your guy!!! You got pics of your 'chickens' on here somewhere????? Are you going to hang a heat lamp in there? You should be more cold than we are here. I have been keeping the light on 24/7 the last few days because it keeps the water from freezing. I'm so glad it works. Tonight it was 56 degrees in there. Because the heat rises, and the door is on the floor, the heat stays in during the day better than planned. Just letting you know in case it helps you plan. Anyway......they are going to be very happy there.

Looking good. I really like the design. Are you planning on trimming the inside of the window? The reason I ask is the chickens may start pecking the spray insulation out otherwise.

Lets see, I have 2 silver laced wyandotte, 1 gold laced wyondotte and 2 rhode island reds...they are 11 weeks old today. Last night when the outside was below 20, the inside was 35 with one 250 watt infrared lamp...too cold for the youngsters (who are still in the basement) So now I am still trying to determine what kind of supplimental heat to give the girls until they are a bit older/larger. The frame will go around the window once the screen is nailed in, there will also be white trim on the bottom and corners on the outside. The whole coop will be screened in with hardware cloth, the roofing is made of plastic from Lowes. No roosters, we are in a residential neighborhood, though very tolerant of chickens!
