I have 3 beautiful buff laced polish 17weeks old. 2 bearded and 1 non. I have been wondering if I had a cockerel in the mix but had not seen many tall tale signs other than some bossiness and a little impatience at times. Then a week ago a 20 week old white crested black polish cockerel joined our flock & things have changed somewhat!

My question is am I seeing this correctly? He/she had a v shaped tail feather coming in and a pointy looking sickle feather coming in that stays hidden most of the time and only comes out when ruffled. The v shaped tail feather (sickle? I’m a new chicken momma so not real familiar with the feather terms) has almost grown overnight I noticed it yesterday and this morning it is even longer. So do I have budding cockerel? He is also quite small and that has always thrown me off. My 2 bearded are pretty little in comparison to my non bearded. Could the bearded be bantams??? The 2 bearded were freebies in my chick order. This bird also has very little comb development other than some light red around the beak and a spot in the middle of beak and I can spot a little reddish between his eyes but the crest is so full that it’s so hard to tell. I included pics from yesterday after his bath during his blowout and pics from this morning. What do you all think? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I think what you are calling 'v shaped feathers' are just the tip of a tail feather that has broken off. Your polish looks like a pullet to me, she has more rounded head feathers. Males have a more wild looking 'hairdo'. I also see no pointed male saddle or hackle feathers.

This is why I question it. These are captain jacks sickle feathers he is my white crested black polish 20 weeks old. These feathers coming in on my buff laced look the same. Out of my 3 polish this one is much darker in the ginger coloring and has been since 8 weeks old. This polish also chases the cats and mini doxy off every time they come around the run. All the other birds stay behind and watch as this one makes its rounds. It’s the first on the Roost’s at night and wont let anyone up for at least 5 mins while it makes a loop or two around and finds its place. Also places each hen on the Roost’s the way it wants??? I had been thinking it was my alpha hen. I’ve also noticed a slight growl coming once in a while and a guarded demeanor, more skittish and didn’t like being cuddled to much ever. But those things I brushed off when it was smaller. It’s tail, wing and hackel feathers have grown differently than the rest as well. The tail feathers on this bird grew way slower than my other 2 buff laced which are actually a few inches longer and rounder even still. This one seems to carry it’s wing feathers lower than the other two the others keep them closer to their vent this one usually has them closer to its legs. Like I said I’m a new chicken momma and realize they all grow differently. So I could just be seeing things in hopes of having another rooster.
