New duck just showed up what is it?

Yep, had one dumped at my house a couple of years ago. Since people who drive by can see my pond and ducks I figured someone decided they didn't want it anymore and just dropped it off.

Also had someone tell me one time that when he was a teenager him and his brothers would go "chicken chuckin". Apparently when they would start getting too many roosters at their house they would load some up, find another house with chickens, stop and chuck them out the car window.

I'm seeing and hearing an increased number of stories where people are "finding" ducks out in their yard. Poor ducks are being dumped off for others to care for. The one that was dumped off at my house refuses to leave.

He's a keeper though.

What is he Kuntry? I hadn't heard about this. No one drops animals off here I guess our driveway is way to long and they are scared to drive back to our house, about 10 years ago though someone in the night dumped off 2 old dogs at the end of the driveway and we found them and took the to the shelter. If i could have come on those people

but it's always in the night that it's done.

Sorry Miss Lydia, I thought I told you about my "visitor" now "permanent resident" at Happy Acres Farm. :gig

This is Brownie. I was sitting outside one day and saw a "brown image" in the corner of my left eye and immediately turned around. When I turned around, this is what I saw. (PICS BELOW)

I was like "WHERE DID YOU COME FROM"?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? It seems that someone dropped him off at my house during the day when I wasn't home. I have no idea where he came from. I put ads on Craigslist and our local newspaper looking for his owner but no one answered. He has NEVER tried to leave. When I open the chicken yard gate for all of the animals to come out to free range in the "human" yard, he just follows along with everyone else and goes back in with no trouble. I thought that he would try to run away but he never tried to leave. At first, I thought that he couldn't fly but I am now finding out that he can fly. He is very friendly.

He is very handsome boy, congrats!

Has anyone else found this to be true? In my experience there was no significant difference in the sex ratio.

I have been hatching out my neighbors duck eggs because I wanted them and thought that they were beautiful. I have ended up with about a 2 female to 1 male ratio. so I am getting more females then males. The ducks I am hatching are Pekin and Blue crested Swedish ducks. I sex our ducks so we know what they are and the 3 older ones, are 1 black male and 2 females. I don't know if it depends on what crosses you do.
