Hello everyone!
I have browsed BYC for a while but never signed up until now. I am from northeastern Tennessee. My first chickens were a pair of Salmon Faverolles I purchased as chicks last summer. Not long after I got them I took up hatching out my own chicks. Now I'm hooked! I did hatch out quite a few chicks last fall but unfortunately I have had a TERRIBLE time with predators and I lost all 20 that I hatched out.
Skunks, Foxes, Raccoons, Opossums.... you name it. Now all I have left is my Salmon Faverolles Roo, Blue Wheaton Ameraucana Pullet, and a Barred Rock Hen. I've since surrounded my runs with hot wire and purchased a much more secure coop and I haven't had any problems since. I hope to continue hatching this year and increase my number enough to have a few separate breeding pens.
